NC defeats LG to move into sole possession of second place with three straight wins.

NC won 7-5 against LG in Jamsil on the 2nd. In a long game that featured 21 hits and 13 walks for both teams, NC had the last laugh. While the bullpen struggled side-by-side, NC closer Lee Yong-chan stayed on the mound until the end. He came on in the bottom of the eighth inning and recorded four outs to earn his first save of the season.

At the plate, Kun Hee-dong had three hits and Kim Sung-wook had two hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run. With the win, NC improved to 6-2 on the season.

“Scoring runs in the sixth and seventh innings was the decisive moment of the victory,” said NC head coach Kang Myung-hwa after the game, “and the performances of Kim Sung-wook and Kwon Hee-dong were the foundation for the victory.”

NC gave up two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to fall behind 2-4, but scored three runs in the top of the sixth and two in the top of the seventh to win the game. In the top of the sixth, Seo Ho-chul singled to left and Kim Sung-wook doubled. With the bases loaded, Kim Joo-won drew a walk to tie the game. In the top of the seventh, Park Gun-woo singled to left. Kim Hyung-joon drew a bases-loaded walk to score the final run.

Starter Kyle Hart earned the win, allowing four runs on seven hits and 10 walks with five strikeouts in five innings. Out of the bullpen, Ryu Jin-wook took the loss, but Lim Jung-ho and Lee Yong-chan combined for three scoreless innings of relief.

With the win, NC improved to 6-2 on the season. It was LG Electronics’ sixth straight win dating back to Aug. 25 last year.

NC has announced Lee Jae-hak as the starting pitcher for the 3rd. LG will start Son Ju-young.
