Lewis out with injury, Donnarumma shock exit

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s shock sending off has put Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in an early hole.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) hosts Le Havre AC in the 14th round of the 2023-24 French Ligue 1 at the Stade de l’Ocean in Le Havre, France on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET. PSG is in first place in the league with nine wins, three draws, and one loss (30 points), while Le Havre is in ninth place with three wins, seven draws, and three losses (16 points). The first half is currently underway.

PSG started with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ashraf Hakimi, Danilo Pereira, Nordy Moukiele, Carlos Soler, Vitinha, Lee Kang-In, Fabian Luis, Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, and Bradley Barcola in Korean kits. Milan Skriniar, Luca Hernandez, Lavin Kurzawa, Cher N’Dour, Manuel Ugarte, Marco Asensio, Randall Kolo Moani, and Gonzalo Hamus started on the bench.

PSG, who played Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in midweek, went with a partial rotation. It was a 4-3-3 formation. Soler was the most notable addition at left fullback, while Moukiele, who had been playing fullback, moved to center back to partner Pereyra. In the middle of the park, Ugarte was dropped in favor of Lee, Luiz, and Vitinha. Barca, who was extremely poor in Newcastle, started on the left, partnering Mbappe and Dembele. Barca had been criticized for missing three big chances in Newcastle.

Almost at the start, Lewis was injured. During a contest, he fell to the ground complaining of an injury to his arm. Luis was unable to continue and Ugarte, who had been rested, was brought on. With Ugarte on, Donnarumma was sent off. In the ninth minute of the first half, Kasimir and Donnarumma collided outside the penalty box after a goal kick was deflected back. The referee saw a clear goal-scoring opportunity and immediately showed a red card.

The decision was unchanged and Donnarumma was sent off. Enrique took off Barca and brought on goalkeeper Arnau Tenas. After the injury, the goalkeeper was sent off with less than 10 minutes left in the first half, leaving PSG with two yellow cards and 10 men.
