U-17 Women’s National Team falls to Spain 0-5, faces elimination from World Cup

South Korea’s U-17 women’s soccer team suffered a tough loss to defending champions Spain.

The U-17s, led by head coach Kim Eun-jung, lost 0-5 on Tuesday (June 20) at the Felix Sanchez Stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 토토사이트 모음 in their second group match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024.

South Korea drew 1-1 with Colombia in their opening group game. The team will advance to the quarterfinals or be eliminated depending on the outcome of its final group game against the United States on Sept. 23.

Spain, who have won two straight games, will advance to the quarterfinals regardless of the outcome of their final match.

The U-17 Women’s World Cup features 16 teams divided into four groups. The top two finishers from each group will advance to the quarterfinals to determine the tournament champion.

South Korea opened the scoring seven minutes into the match with a header from Pau Commendador. Spain continued to attack and scored another goal in the 32nd minute of the first half. In first-half stoppage time, Iris Ashley Santiago added another goal.

After conceding three goals in the first half, South Korea added two more in the second half.
