Sancho is leaving Manchester United after all
Jadon Sancho (24, Man Utd) is leaving Manchester United after all.
“Jadon Sancho is close to returning to Borussia Dortmund,” the German ‘Kicker’ reported on Wednesday.
Sancho scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 official appearances for Dortmund between the 2017-2018 season, when he joined the club from Manchester City, and the 2020-2021 season. Sancho had developed into one of the Bundesliga’s best attacking options, and United fans had high hopes for him.
Sancho joined United for £73 million, but has been a disappointment ever since.
Sancho’s relationship with manager Eric ten Hagh has completely broken down. It all started in September of last year, when United played Arsenal in the fourth round of the 2023-2024 Premier League season.
Sancho was not named in the starting lineup for the game, which United lost 1-3. He had been a substitute in each of the previous three games, but was left out against Arsenal.
In his post-match press conference, Van Gaal said, “Sancho was not selected because of his performance on the training ground. At United, everyone has to reach a certain level every day. 안전놀이터 We have options in the front line. That’s why Sancho was not selected for this game,” he said, explaining the reason for his exclusion.
In response, Sancho wrote on his personal social media, “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I was really good in training this week,” he wrote on his personal social media account, directly challenging Ten Haag.
Sancho added: “I believe there are other reasons in this matter that I will not talk about. I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time. It’s not fair!” and claimed that the competition for a starting spot in the team was unfair.
United were not about to let the player’s “protest” go unanswered.
“Sancho has been excluded from first-team training until his disciplinary issues are resolved,” the club announced on its official channels.
Sancho has since been linked with a move away from the club, with “hometown team” Dortmund among those interested.
“Sancho is on the verge of returning to Dortmund. He will be loaned out.”
“Sancho’s return to Dortmund has been nothing more than a rumor for the past few weeks, but Sky Sports can confirm that Dortmund and United are discussing a loan deal for Sancho until the end of the season. This is consistent with our own sources.”
Kicker quoted another German outlet, Bild, as saying that “the overall deal, including salary and rent, is worth €3 million.”
“The move appears to be a sensible option for both player and club and Sancho is reportedly happy to return to Dortmund,” the outlet added.
