Bae Ji-hwan hits extra-base hit in extra innings…first hit since returning to MLB

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Ji-hwan Bae (25) used his quick feet to record his first hit since returning to the big leagues.

Bae went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk, a run scored, a run batted in and a stolen base in the eighth spot in the lineup against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks of the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, on Monday (Sept. 29).

He raised his big league batting average from .185 to .200 this season.

He grounded out to the pitcher in the top of the second inning, 0-0, but drew a walk to lead off the fifth inning, trailing 2-0.

He promptly stole second base, but was stranded at the plate. In the seventh, he struck out.

The hit came in his final at-bat in the top of the 10th inning of extra innings, tied 5-5.

Bae Ji-hwan led off with a bunt single against right-hander Justin Martinez with the bases loaded and two outs.

Bae connected and came around to score.

Pittsburgh scored four runs on one hit, three walks, one hit by pitch and a wild pitch.

Pittsburgh scored three runs in the bottom of the 10th inning, but the Pirates were able to hold on for the 6-5 victory.

Bae was placed on the disabled list on April 4, and after a rehab assignment with Triple-A, he was activated from the disabled list and assigned to the minors.

After spending about a month in the minors, Bae was called up to fill in for starting outfielder Bryan Reynolds when he went on a funeral leave on Nov. 27. 토토사이트 순위
